Xuějiāo is very naturally always on alert. Even when it might not seem like it he is paying attention to everything and has a good eye for detail, so he can spot when something is wrong before most people. That said he's not an impulsive person and tends to think carefully before doing something. This can be acting on a problem or working on something. He always has a reason for why he does something and is almost never random, the consequence of this being he can be slow to act and on the spot decision making is not his strong suit. That's not to say he isn't creative, though, his creativity just has a lot of thought into it. He also has a habit of being on top of things as much as possible. If something MIGHT need to be replaced soon, he'll make sure a replacement is available before the need arises. He prefers to get ahead of problems instead of waiting for them to become a problem in the first place. He still has some adaptability, but works better by being proactive. Xuějiāo is also considered someone who is very sincere about his feelings and ideals. He won't lie or deliver half-truths about things, though he's also not cruel in his honesty. In fact he's not considered a very "tough" critique and simply likes to state the facts as he sees them. He's someone whose words can be absolutely trusted.

Because Xuějiāo doesn't have much experience with actively malicious people he can sometimes be a little gullible. He's not COMPLETELY foolish and won't believe completely ridiculous things or the words of a stranger, but if someone he's close to were to tell him something that seemed like it could be true... he'd probably believe it until proven wrong. As such he can be easy to betray if someone gains his trust, but once that trust is broken he also struggles to forgive someone for it. He can be very unforgiving at times depending on the wrong done and the circumstances, and will likely never trust a person again if they severely break his trust. Of course gaining his trust in the first place can be a tough task as Xuějiāo is somewhat intimidating thanks to his reserved nature and awkwardness in socializing with strangers.

• Xuějiāo's tail can tell someone a lot about how he's feeling even if it isn't so obvious otherwise. If it's curled around his legs he's either cold or feeling nervous and closed off. If it's stiff and not moving he's very focused on something. If it seems to be moving around gently he's probably lost in thought, and if he's excited or scared it can puff up.
• Xuějiāo shrugs a lot. If he doesn't know something or is confused or baffled he'll usually just shrug and move on, but since he doesn't talk a lot it's a movement that someone will probably see pretty often.
• Xuějiāo doesn't often make eyecontact with people he talks to. In fact he seems to be more comfortable talking if he doesn't look at someone's face and becomes more talkative if he's focused on something else or turned away. Normally this is counterproductive, as it's hard to tell someone's emotions without seeing their face, but he can usually understand it by listening to the tone of their voice instead.

Xuějiāo's Relationships

Goals:

• Find and retrieve the artifact stolen from his village and return it to where it belongs
• Discover new metalsmithing techniques, metals, and other materials that might be useful for the future of his home
• Gain an intimate knowledge of the Nozama Region and what goes on their to have a better chance at protecting his home. If possible foster a good relationship with those that live there and create a mutually beneficial bond

Dreams:

• Create a masterpiece, or technique that produces a masterpiece, that stands the test of time for as long as possible
• Gain a collection of ores, rocks, and gems of all kinds from all around the world
• Inspire and interest and love for his craft (both metalsmithing and lapidary) in others eventually taking on an apprentice of his own

Extrinsic Motivation:

• The desire to make his mentor proud and live up to their expectations despite them no longer being around
• The importance metalsmithing has to the people on Nozama. It can lead the way to many advancements and easier living for people
• He feels a closer connection to others through his work and it makes it easier to interact with others

» While Xuějiāo doesn't mind inspecting ores or gems to find ones good for use, he actually strongly dislikes the process of mining. If someone were to bring him the raw materials themselves he's willing to make whatever is asked of him, but if he has to gather it by himself he's more likely to decline a project he's not interested in.

» As you can imagine Xuějiāo doesn't do well in the heat. Having lived in the cold his entire life he has no tolerance for heat and would find it especially difficult to survive in desert areas. Because he's often working at a hot forge he also struggles to work well in the summer... he might need the help of an ice type pokemon to keep himself cool.

» Xuějiāo comes from xuě meaning "snow" and jiāo meaning "beautiful" or "handsome". If pronounced differently jiǎo can also mean "bright", "white", or "brilliant". However my intention is for the first one to be used.

» Symbolism meanings: Snow Leopard's symbolize "Freedom, Indpendance, Creative Karma" and can be protectors for sacred sites. Blue Violets symbolizes "Watchtfulness". Aquamarine symbolizes "Courage, Truth, Hope".
