The eccentric and enigmatic lover of all things floral! Despite Vivian's early life being a rough and unideal one she seems to have grown into a confident and cheerful person. Someone would say she might be a little too confident and lacking in inhibitions, but so long as she isn't hurting anyone does it really matter? Vivian sure doesn't think so! Unfortunately her strangeness did her no favors in making friends. Though never bullied (due to her unexpected reactions to any attempts..) she spent much of her early life by herself. During this time she developed a fascination with plants and flowers... specifically an interset in the effects of volcanic ash on them as well as the act of breeding plants to create new/stronger variants. With nothing to stop her Vivian threw herself into this passion eventually becoming a highly skilled horticulturist.
With nothing but bitter memories for in her Kanto, where she'd lived most of her life, Vivian would move to Fallarbor in Hoenn as soon as she possibly could. Not long after she would come across a little Gothita who'd been attracted to her newly set up garden. This Gothita would eventually become her closest friend and Pokemon partner (who she named Hollyhock after a type of flower, naturally). Vivian would start gathering other people to help her with her research and experiments and before long she had her own little research center for all things plant. Things were looking up... until things changed, as they always seemed to.
Vivian was not blind to her colleagues attempts to ice her out. She'd seen it many times before and knew the signs. Instead of fighting against it or calling them out though Vivian would continue to be friendly (if not passive aggressive) and rely on Hollyhock for her work. By this point she felt she'd spent enough time in Fallarbor and wanted to look for a new change of pace anyway. Then one day she happened to hear a rumor of a fascinating island... a place unlike anything else in the Pokemon world. Doing more research on it there was little she could find, but what she did discover only made her more interested. What kind of plants could this strange island be harboring? By the time her colleagues fully cut her from their project Vivian already set her mind on attempting to reach Nozama. She left amicably (or, well, supposedly. Coincedentally the group's large project would fail dramatically soon after she left...) and set out for Nozama as soon as she could.
Melt Hart: If Vivian were being honest she didn't know what to think of Melt at first. Originally she wasn't very fond of him, as he had a clear track record of being dishonest, but the more they interacted the more Vivian realized his dishonesty was different from the kind she usually encountered. If anything, much like acting strange was her defense mechanism, lying was his. It only occured to her later that the two were outcasts in their own right... so why not stick together if that was the case? Of course getting through to Melt wasn't so easy but perserverance seemed to do the trick. The two are very good friends... and Vivian finds him fun to tease!
Nozama being an island with not much known about it is incredibly fascinating to Vivian because of the opportunities it presents. New possible plant breeds means new possible medicines... or new delicious berries to discover! Her first and foremost goal is to discover every kind of plant native to Nozama that one can't find anywhere else. From that point she'll branch out to other avenues, but there's no telling what the future will bring.
Vivian very much knows what she wants and why she does things. From a young age she learned to be true to herself and believes that to be the fastest way to happiness, so she won't stop what she's doing even if someone tells her to. This belief is only reinforced when she sees someone enjoying the fruits of her labor.
